The San Francisco 49ers wrapped up a three game road stint with another heart breaking loss. The team has put in quite a few air miles under their belt and after one home game they head back out to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. Like the last five weeks, there are a few things we learned. C.J. Beathard is the starting quarterback going forward It was a surprise to most of us and even to the players when rookie quarterback Beathard entered the game deep into the second quarter. He managed the game well but still made a few mistakes which is natural. While he is a quiet leader, his presence seemed to spark the offense as did the the two minute drill he ran. His two deep passes however were very off the mark. Arm strength was not one of his weaknesses in his draft profile but it didn look like he had enough today. While Brock Coyle is serviceable, he was very inconsistent, making great tackles for losses and then, in turn, whiffing on others. NaVorro Bowman departure makes Foster return even more vital. Seeing Earl Mitchell and Solomon Thomas in coverage is not ideal. Carlos Hyde and Matt Breida continue to split repsWhen Breida went into the game, Hyde stood on the sidelines with his helmet on, arms crossed on top of his chest. Hyde still dominated the carries with 13 attempts, Breida only having 4. Hyde was also who the team called upon at the goal line and the veteran back carried the rock in twice. Hyde was productive in the passing game with five catches for 55 yards, he seemed happier about splitting reps this week than last week the Colts. He shared that he had talked to GM John Lynch about the rumors that he was being shopped to which Lynch told him the rumors were untrue. Ahkello Witherspoon and the cornerbacks are on rotation Leon Hall wasn't active this week after only arriving a few days prior to the trip to D.C. Witherspoon resumed his rotation in the secondary that was interrupted by injury in Indianapolis.
